Powder Rider 16

The Ortovox Powder Rider 16 is a lightweight freeride backpack designed for short backcountry tours and powder days where carrying capacity is kept to the essentials. At just 660g, it is exceptionally light for a pack with a dedicated safety compartment, making it an ideal partner for a day’s riding when keeping weight and pack profile to a minimum is the priority. The safety compartment houses fasteners for both a shovel and probe, keeping emergency equipment organised and accessible independently of the main compartment — a critical design feature for rapid deployment in an avalanche situation.

The pack’s anatomically shaped back and slim silhouette are designed to hug the body closely and avoid interfering with skiing or snowboarding movements, and the back also allows rear access to the main compartment. A diagonal ski attachment allows the skis to be carried across the back for skinning approaches or bootpacking sections, and a fixed helmet net provides external helmet carry. Hydration system compatibility, a map compartment and a chest strap with signal whistle round out the functional specification.
