The K2 Mindbender 96 is the standout model of K2’s redesigned 2027 Mindbender collection and, by several measures, its flagship.

At 96mm underfoot it occupies the most versatile position in the mid-all-mountain category — wide enough to perform creditably in softer snow and moderate off-piste terrain, narrow enough to engage precisely on groomed runs and varied hardpack conditions. Like the 88, the 96 carries the full suite of 2027 Mindbender technologies: Dark Matter damping inserts, Titanal I-Beam, Aspen-Paulownia core and Spectral Braid. In independent on-snow tests, the 2027 Mindbender 96 is described as exceptionally smooth and silent underfoot — the Dark Matter placement on the 96, positioned toward the tip and tail contact zones, was specifically calibrated to provide precision turn initiation and edge grip while eliminating the chatter that can develop on firmer or choppier snow. The overall result is a significantly lighter ski than the outgoing Mindbender 99Ti it effectively replaces, but with comparable or superior damping and control.
