Mindbender 88 Skis 2027
Beschrijving
The K2 Mindbender 88 is one of the headline products from K2’s completely redesigned 2027 Mindbender collection — a ground-up overhaul that simplifies the lineup (no more Ti and C designations) and introduces two major new technologies that fundamentally change how these skis perform.
The most significant development is Dark Matter damping: stainless steel-powder-infused polyurethane weights placed at precise stability points along the ski’s forebody and tail edges. These targeted mass inserts absorb vibration and chatter at specific frequencies rather than distributing mass evenly, which K2 say results in 10% lighter weight with superior vibration damping over the previous generation. The second major change is the replacement of the Titanal Y-Beam with a Titanal I-Beam — a full-length metal laminate that provides edge grip and power without the complexity of the Y-shape. Combined with a lightweight Aspen-Paulownia wood core and K2’s Spectral Braid variable-angle fibre construction, the Mindbender 88 delivers a ski that is precise and edge-focused on groomed terrain, composed in variable snow, and significantly lighter than its predecessor.
At 88mm underfoot, it sits in the all-mountain sweet spot for skiers who spend the majority of their time on groomed piste with regular excursions into unprepared terrain.
Rocker Profile: All Mountain Rocker
Features
- Dark Matter Damping — stainless steel-powder-infused TPU inserts at precision stability points; targets vibration at source for 10% lighter weight with superior damping
- Titanal I-Beam — full-length metal laminate running tip-to-tail for edge grip, power and controlled stiffness without the Y-Beam’s weight penalty
- Aspen-Paulownia Wood Core — lightweight dual-species core delivering energetic response, pop and durability
- Spectral Braid — K2’s variable-angle fibre reinforcement tuning torsion and flex precisely along the ski’s length
- Uni-Directional Flax — natural fibre reinforcement improving tracking and composure in variable terrain
- All-Terrain Rocker — gradual tip rise for groomed piste precision; short tail rise for controlled variable-snow performance
- Dark Matter placement (88 and 96) — positioned further toward the tip and tail contact points vs wider models, enhancing precision and turn initiation
